Hugh Dorrian and Judge Julia Dorrian - Honorary Co-chairpersons for 2008 Living Faith Awards!

Hugh J. Dorrian, of Hugh Columbus City Auditor and daughter,  Honorable Judge Julia L. Dorrian, will serve as Co-chairpersons of the 17th Annual Living Faith Awards.


    Hugh J. Dorrian earned his B.S. degree, business administration, major in accounting, Ohio State University 1959. He was appointed Auditor, [by law, the city’s chief accountant], City of Columbus in 1969. He has had 10 consecutive successful elections. As City Auditor, [they] converted the City to accepted accounting principles in government.


    For 27 consecutive years, 1979-2006, he has received the “Award of Financial Reporting Achievement” from the Government Finance Officers Association U.S. and Canada for Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports of the City of Columbus, Ohio.  

    
    In 1992, Mr. Dorrian was invited to Russia and conducted an accounting/auditing seminar for academic, government and joint venture officials.


    Mr. Dorrian has received awards from School of Public Policy and Management-The Ohio State University, Minority/Female Business Advocate Award from City of Columbus Equal Business Opportunity Department, Lifetime Achievement Award, 2000 and Ethics in Government Award,1996  from Ohio Government Finance Officers’ Association, and more!


    Hugh and his wife, Janice, are longtime members of St. Timothy Parish.  They have four children, Julia, Margaret, Mary, and Joe.

 

Julia L. Dorrian, daughter of Hugh Dorrian, is a Judge in the Franklin County Municipal Court. While a Catholic Lay Missionary, Holy Cross Association, Santiago, Chile, 1987-1992, she decided to go to law school.

 

  She is fluent in Spanish, studied in France and Mexico, graduated from the University of Notre Dame, B.A., Ohio State University, J.D., and the Ohio State University School of Public Policy and Management, M.A.

  

  Among her non-court activities, she has worked with St. Stephens Community House, The Catholic Foundation, United Way of Central Ohio, and the Columbus Catholic Diocese Campaign for Human Development.

  

  She and her husband, David J. Robinson have one child, Hugh Dorrian Robinson. They are members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish.

 

  She has been honored by the Columbus Jaycees in 1988, OSU College of Law in 1998, Ohio State Bar Foundation, 2002 and the Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public Affairs, 2007.
